Patchwork

Patchwork is a technique of textile design, where there will be sowing to a bigger piece, little or bigger pieces of felt, leather, coat, web of silk, linen, cotton and others together. The pieces of the material will be sowing together or each other. If the pieces will be sowing together it is named pieced work or mosaic – patchwork and if the pieces will be laid on each other and fixed with different stitches it is named appliqué.

Patchwork can be proved until the 1st pre – Christian millennium in Egypt and Central Asia. Tarpaulins, blankets and garments were designed with patchwork. The patterns and colors had a high symbolic value: they should detain calamity, bring proliferation and supply the subject luck and importance.
