This sample wants to help you to decide a considered choice and to be familiar with the form of working of your example, before you begin with the real knitting.

Lace pattern 1
Straight number of stitches. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 1 foldover, knit together 2 stitches left, constantly repeat from *. Fore- and backside are similar.
Lace pattern 2
The number of stitches is dividable by 6 plus 3, plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 3 stitches left, 1 foldover, lift off 1 stitch right, knit together 2 stitches and pull over the lifted stitch, 1 foldover, constantly repeat from *, last 3 stitches left, 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd row: 1 stitch on the edge, 3 stitches right, * 3 stitches left, 3 stitches right, constantly repeat from *, 1 stitch on the edge. Repeat these 2 rows continuously.
Lace pattern 3
The number of stitches is dividable by 3 plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, knit together 2 left stitches, constantly repeat from *, 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 1 stitch right, 1 foldover, knit together 2 stitches (of the foldover and the following) left, constantly repeat from *, 1 stitch on the edge. Repeat these 2 rows constantly.
Lace pattern 4
Results in a diagonal knitted work, the number of stitches is dividable by 3 plus 2 stitches on the edge. 1st row: 1 stitch on the edge, * 1 foldover, lift off 1 stitch left, 2 stitches right, then pull the lifted stitch over the 2nd right stitch, constantly repeat from *, 1 stitch on the edge. 2nd row: All stitches left.
