Edge border
Please make your choice:
Before you finally choose your knitting example, take time to knit a work sample of your knitting example – however it isn’t this work sample, which you knit normally to measure the numbers of stitches in breadth and the rows in height in centimeters. Only so you can compose your own opinion about the possibilities and the effect of the example after your form of knitting – especially if it’s a model of your phantasy.
This sample wants to help you to decide a considered choice and to be familiar with the form of working of your example, before you begin with the real knitting.
Knitted on edge border
This is the simplest edge border. At the beginning it will be knitted in a not rolling pattern (corded edge pattern, purl one, moss stitch etc.) of the knitting. Afterwards you knit the real basic pattern. But you have to consider that a corded edge patter draw the work together. You need the double number of stitches of the basic pattern. Also you have the possibility, to continue this edge border in the course of the work on the knit edge in height.
Sewed on edge border
1. Longitudinal knitted fabric: This edge is preferable as the above mentioned. Mainly if you will be use it for a corded edge pattern. You knit fewer rows as in the basic pattern and span it while you steam it. This method guaranteed, that the edge border don’t bulge and buckle. Certainly you have to achieve the seam really accurate and constant. For this edge border are all non rolled pattern possible (corded edge pattern, moss stitch, purl one).
